Coolest lighting of Olympic Cauldron

Since we’re on the topic of olympics.. I was disappointed by the anti-climax cauldron lighting this year, especially since the opening ceremony itself was great.

I always had a vague memory of a guy shooting a flamed arrow into the cauldron to light up the olympic flame. After looking up youtube, turns out it’s from the 92′ Barcelona Olympics. I have no idea how I recall this as it means I was just 2 years old.

BBC:

“Billions of people around the globe gasped in admiration as the archer bravely found his target with unerring accuracy.

Or so it seemed.

In reality, he had not actually landed the arrow in the middle of the cauldron – he had fired it way outside the stadium as instructed.

Organisers dared not risk his aim failling short and landing into the grandstand and instead told him to fire it directly over the target area… some pyrotechnics-helpful camera angles would take care of the visual effect.”

4×100m Free Relay

The 4×100m free relay yesterday was wowwww. If I’m not wrong 5 teams out of the 8 broke the previous world record, take that for awesome. The US team overcame the France by a mere 0.08s owing to an incredible split by Jason Lezak. It’s one of those races where you wish you were their countrymen just so you could feel proud. Full highlights click here.

Btw, youtube has an olympic channel but their highlights suck. Any one with better sites please tell me thanks.

08/09 Season kicks off

Manchester United started off the season with a bang at Wembley Stadium with a comfortable Community Shield win on penalties against FA Cup winners Portsmouth. Stars Ronaldo and Rooney were out with injuries, but Tevez gave a man of the match performance to make up for their loss. Proving to be an unexpected menace to the Portsmouth side was Darren Fletcher, as he was time and again denied by on-form keeper David James. Captain Gary Neville also made a comfortable return to the side after spending the last 15 months sidelined as his team picked up the trophy for the second year in a row.

Gordon Ramsay's plates

Came across this plate collection at Shaw. Now even got Gordon Ramsay brand plates, which are going for like 100 bucks each.

aglio olio

Ate at the Pasta Cafe in taka with my mum, it’s by Pokka (Jap brand) so she said must be good. Ended up having the worst tastng aglio olio ever. Too oily too salty too many pine nuts.

Squid ink pasta

I tried squid ink pasta for the first time. Actually doesn’t really have any taste to it, just makes your lips and teeth fucking black. Don’t go to the pasta cafe it’s a bad place.

EDUARDO FUCK OUCH

I sympathize with Eduardo, after he suffered the horrific injury yesterday which stopped the game for 10 mins.

The commentators said they couldn’t show the replays because it was too graphic. And rightly so. OUCH MAN!!! NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED!!  VIDEO HERE.

NEWCASTLE 1 – 5 MAN UTD

Wayne Rooney’s my man of the match again, with 2 goals and an assist. His second’s a definite contender for goal of the season.

Flawless, superb, immaculate, perfect, sublime, and ruthless destruction of Arsenal by the world’s greatest football team.
